Dr Deborah Gabriel

Dr Deborah Gabriel is a senior academic at Bournemouth University in the Faculty of Media and Communication whose teaching, research and professional practice in politics, media and communication are centred on social justice and equality. She teaches from a critical race/gender standpoint, specialising in inclusive teaching strategies, as creator of the 3D Pedagogy Framework to decolonise, democratise and diversify the curriculum. Her research is centred on critical, transformative and emancipatory paradigms, heavily informed by Black feminism and critical race theory. As Founder and Director of Black British Academics, an influential network of scholar-activists committed to race equality in higher education, she leads research and practice on race and gender equality through the Ivory Tower project. She also leads on race equality initiatives at Bournemouth University as Co-Chair of the Race Equality Charter Steering Group and undertakes specialist consultancy in race equality strategies and 3D Pedagogy.​
